The City of
Mesquite’s Business Development Center program provides an opportunity for new and developing local enterprises to get their business effort on solid ground by providing space at below market rates. With the Center’s location in the Mesquite Campus, on Yucca Street adjacent to the Community College, classes in business management, accounting, business planning and similar fields are literally next door and can assist with the further expansion of the business.
The types of businesses the City looks for to occupy the space are professional services, technology based, research & development or start-up light manufacturing, although any type is welcome to apply. The business must provide a business plan, business license, property and liability insurance and must be approved by the City Council. The Center provides office space at 60 cents per square foot for the first 6 months increasing to 80 cents per square foot for next 6 months. After that year, businesses are expected to be able to lease regular ‘open market’ commercial space and are required to move to provide space for the next start up.
With the rapid growth of the City, the Business Development Center can enrich our community by assisting a new or developing business.
