Our 911 Communications Center is the dispatch center for every police, fire and ambulance agency in the city as well as being the 911 center for the public. The Communications Center is located within the Mesquite Justice Facility and has recently been remodeled and updated to be state of the art. We have enhanced 911 capability which provides greater service to the citizens that we serve.
Thousands of 911 calls are received as well as many more non-emergency calls and these are all disseminated from our Communications Center to the appropriate agency. The non-emergency line for City of Mesquite is 702-346-5262. This number should be used to request an officer for a report, to report suspicious people or vehicles and any other occurrence that is non-life threatening. Things of an emergency nature, where injury or death may be imminent, call 911 and you will get a Dispatcher here in the Mesquite Justice Facility.
9-1-1 How does it work?
Mesquite Police Dispatchers are the PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) that take all of the 9-1-1 calls for the City of Mesquite.
Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City and nearby Mohave County jurisdictions all have their own Police Departments. If you call 9-1-1 from a phone located in one of these areas, your call will be routed to the respective department's dispatch center. Therefore, when you call 9-1-1 from a phone within Mesquite City limits, you will be talking to the Dispatchers who work at Mesquite Police Department Communications Center. If you call 9-1-1 from Bunkerville or Overton areas, your call will be routed to Las Vegas Metro Dispatch.
Cellular telephones are a little different. If the coverage area for a cell site falls mostly in Mesquite, for example, a cellular 9-1-1 call made through that cell site will be routed to Mesquite Police Dispatch. This results in some confusion, but the calls are easily transferred between different dispatch centers.
