The main purpose of the School Resource Officer is a triad concept of Law Enforcement Officer, Law Related Educator, and Law Related Counselor. Designed to bridge the gap between Law enforcement and community's youth. He is often the first responder to incidents that occur at the schools. The simple presence of a School Resource Officer on campus helps deter criminal behavior from occurring.
Starting the school year 2008/2009 we have two School Resource Officers, Officer Darin Wilkins is our D.A.R.E. and G.R.E.A.T. instructor for 5th & 6th graders and has an office at Hughes Middle School (346-3250). The officer at Virgin Valley High School (346-2780) is Officer Robert Everett. Officer Everett is the organizer of the "Every 15 Minute" program being held during the month of October, he also serves as the police department public information officer. Please feel free to visit either of these officers at the school or you may contact their direct supervisor, Lieutenant Troy Tanner at 346-8826.
