In a continued effort to reduce operational expenses and provide the most efficient and cost-effective service possible to the community, Interim City Manager Kurt Sawyer announced today that City Hall will be closed on Fridays effective on July 8.
While employees will be asked to work four 10-hour days on Monday through Thursday, City Hall will continue to be open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
“This measure will save operational costs by reducing utility usage and other maintenance expenses,” said Sawyer. “The City is committed to provide the best service possible the four days that City Hall will remain open and we will continue to seek ways to streamline all services.”
Sawyer noted that visitor volume on Fridays to City Hall had been on the decline since 2007 when the work hours were last adjusted to accommodate citizens who wished to conduct business a half hour before or after typical business hours.
Because of the four-day workweek, adjustments will be made accordingly in the due dates for City offerings, such as bid deadlines and public notices.
This change does not affect hours of operation at other City facilities such as the Recreation Center.
