Although limited resources may be available for the Community Organization Grant program in next year’s budget, the City of Mesquite will still consider applications from eligible local non-profit organizations.
Application packets are available at the City Hall information window or can be downloaded at http://www.mesquitenv.gov/file/GrantFundingPolicyApplication. Completed applications are due on Wed., March 23, by 5 p.m. No late submissions will be accepted.
In the past, the City has offered services, use of facilities, or other in-kind financial consideration (when funds were available), to support innovative projects or events provided by non-profit organizations in support of the City‘s statutory charge to provide for the health, welfare and public safety of its residents.
The organization submitting the grant must be recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt agency, a 501(c)3 or equivalent, and be in good financial standing. The organization must have a non-discriminatory membership and service provision and must serve the best interest of Mesquite residents and visitors.
Grant resources are not provided for individuals or organizations with direct religious activity, political activism, lobbying, legislative activities or legal action, agencies that discriminate based on race, color, creed, age, sexual orientation or national origin, fundraising events, capital campaigns, routine operating expenses, endowments, loans, debt reduction, activities that have already occurred, tickets to dinners or advertising space in program books or other publications, requests for “consumable” items only, indirect costs and others.
