Long Drivers of America (LDA)
announced today it has made a $10,000 donation to the Mesquite (Nev.)
Recreation and Parks Department.
The donation is the third such distribution from $70,000 in prize
money that 2010 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship Open Division
runner-up Domenic Mazza elected to forgo. Previous recipients of
$10,000 gifts were the Mike Moulton Memorial Fund and Children’s
Miracle Network.
“We salute Mesquite for the city’s leadership and vision in creating a
great facility to host the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship. The
grid and venue are the best on the planet,” said Art Sellinger, LDA’s
chief executive officer. “We are pleased to be able to make a donation
that will enrich recreational programs and experiences for Mesquite
residents.”
“We are very grateful for the donation from Long Drivers of America,”
said Rich Bohne, director of Mesquite’s Recreation and Parks
Department. “This money will allow us to continue to improve our
services to the community through our Recreation and Parks programs.
We have great working relationship with LDA and truly appreciate this
contribution.”
Mesquite Mayor Susan Holecheck added: “We are always so grateful for
the value long drivers bring to Mesquite both economically and
socially, and with this donation we are humbled by their generosity.
Thank you, LDA.”
Sellinger said LDA is in the process of selecting other charities and
organizations to receive portions of the prize money that Mazza
waived.
