St. George Police arrested Gadiel Chavez, 21, in a St. George home on Saturday after receiving a tip from Mesquite Police on his whereabouts. Chavez is wanted in connection to a drive by shooting that occurred in Mesquite on November 22.
Chavez and Freddy Armora, 19, of Beaver Dam, Arizona are facing charges of Attempted Murder with a Deadly Weapon, Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle, Discharging a Firearm into a Vehicle, Conspiracy to Commit Murder with a Deadly Weapon, Conspiracy to Discharge a Firearm from a Vehicle, and Conspiracy to Discharge a Firearm into a Vehicle which are all felony charges with the enhancement of being part of criminal gang activity.
St. George Police arrested Chavez on local charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Armora was not located with Chavez and is still at large.
Mesquite Police along with St. George Police also arrested Vincent Ascencio, 42, of Beaver Dam, Arizona who was at the same St. George home as Chavez. Ascencio was arrested on federal charges stemming from a multi state case which is still an ongoing investigation.
