The Southern Area Interdiction Team (SAINT), consisting of Mesquite Police Department Detectives (MPD) and officers from the Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division (NDI) concluded a three month narcotics investigation with the arrests of eight Mesquite residents.
According to Mesquite Police Department Public Information Officer Robert W. Everett, SAINT Detectives requested the assistance of the Mesquite Police SWAT team with service of two “high risk” search warrants. Additional officers from MPD and NDI were utilized while a third search warrant was served almost simultaneously.
SAINT Officers believe those arrested were working together to distribute large quantities of methamphetamine in Mesquite and surrounding communities. The evidence recovered during the sweep includes; 215 grams of suspected methamphetamine, (2) shotguns and (1) handgun illegally possessed and an excess of $27,000 in U.S. Currency.
The suspects were booked into the Mesquite Detention Facility and later transported to the Clark County Detention Facility, except (Nicanor Vasquez-Mendoza), who was charged with a misdemeanor only. The other seven were charged with felonies.
The suspects arrested and charges include:
Daniel Chaidez Ibarra – Maintaining a drug house (6 counts), Trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine – 2 counts), Conspiracy to violate uniform controlled substance act, Transporting a controlled substance and Possession of marijuana.
Maria Chaidez-Avendano – Maintaining a drug house (6 counts), Trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), Conspiracy to violate uniform controlled substance act and Possession of marijuana.
Julian Meza – Trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine – 6 counts), Conspiracy to violate a controlled substance act (6 counts) and Transporting a controlled substance (2 counts).
Christopher Mora – Trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine – 6 counts), Conspiracy to violate uniform controlled substance act (6 counts), Unlawful to allow child present during narcotic transactions, Maintaining a drug house (6 counts), Possession of marijuana and Possession of drug paraphernalia (8 counts).
Tara Craft – Maintaining a drug house (5 counts), Unlawful to allow child present during narcotic transaction, Unlawful to be present when drugs are sold, Possession of marijuana and Possession of drug paraphernalia.
Joshua Tedder – Trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), Conspiracy to violate uniform controlled substance act, Transporting a controlled substance.
Mayra Alvarado – Trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), Conspiracy to violate uniform controlled substance act, Transporting a controlled substance, Possession of a controlled substance, Possession of drug paraphernalia.
Nicanor Vasquez-Mendoza – Possession of drug paraphernalia.
