Police arrest Utah man wanted for counterfeiting

Mesquite police located and stopped a vehicle pulling a trailer with a reported stolen four-wheeler around 11 a.m., on Thursday, (April 29), at a local shopping center parking lot. The vehicle matched a description given by Utah law enforcement agencies.

According to Mesquite Police Department Public Information Officer Robert W. Everett, police received information only minutes earlier from the Washington County, Utah Sheriff’s Department that the vehicle and wanted suspect may be in the area.

The driver, Tylor E. Paul, 23, from Sandy, Utah, was taken into custody without incident.
Paul was wanted in connection with the theft of a four wheeler in Richfield, Utah and possible passing of counterfeit currency there and in Orem, Utah. According to Utah officials, Paul was recently released and out on bail from the Salt Lake County jail and is facing three third-degree felony forgery charges, a third-degree possession of a forgery device charge and a class A misdemeanor of theft by deception.

Further investigation yielded miscellaneous items inside the SUV associated with counterfeit money along with suspected drugs. The U.S. Secret Service in Salt Lake City has been notified as well as the other law enforcement agencies where Paul was wanted. Paul was booked into the Mesquite Detention Facility and is awaiting transport to the Clark County Detention Facility. Authorities in Utah are now seeking his extradition back to Utah to face charges.

Mesquite Interim Police Chief Troy Tanner commended patrol officers for observing and apprehending Paul so quickly after receiving information he could be in the area. Tanner said, “The apprehension of Paul is a clear example of law enforcement agencies in Utah and Nevada working closely together to safeguard the citizens from the criminal element.”
