Traffic Control Exit 120

West Mesquite Interchange Design Build Project Enters New Phase

Construction of the new West Mesquite Interchange at Exit 120 has been progressing steadily, and with the completion of the Bridge Slide a new phase has begun. The contractor, W.W. Clyde, has developed a traffic plan to help facilitate the ease of traveling through the project during this new phase.

Motorist will notice that the temporary traffic signals that have been controlling traffic flows at the on/off ramps have been removed. The use of flaggers and stop signs will now control the flows throughout the remainder of the project.

Although work on the permanent bridge structure will continue, the focus will now switch to construction of the permanent roundabouts on each side of I-15. In order to prevent additional closures in the project, the contractor will be moving traffic from one side of the roadway to the other, depending on which section of roadway is being worked on that day. This means that the road section you drove on one day may not be the section you drive on the next. Drivers are cautioned to pay attention to signs and barriers and to slow down in the construction zone to prevent accidents.

Sign boards are posted on each side of the project and will continue to update motorists on lane changes, closures and other traffic updates. Adam Searcy, NDOT Project Manager, encourages diligence and patience during this important phase of construction and has emphasized that, “Safety is our number one priority.”
