The City of Mesquite would like to say thank you to all the volunteers, organizations and individuals for their help organizing and contributing to this year's annual Thanksgiving Dinner. “It was a tremendous success, thanks largely to the generosity of the sponsors, donors and volunteers,” said Grisyeda Belalcazar, Program Coordinator.
We served around 2,300 walk-ins, 150 homebound and 130 Dinners to assisted living facilities in Mesquite. Everything with the City Mesquites Annual Thanksgiving Dinner was wonderful. Over 100 valuable volunteers helped set-up, prepare, serve, clear tables and clean-up for the dinner.
All volunteers, organizations, individuals and community leaders are to be commended for all their generosity and kindness. Senior Programmer, Krissy Thornton, praised all volunteers and said, “Their helpful and cheerful attitude made it a very warm and cordial environment”. Grateful for all the help, Thornton did point out some special volunteers: Mesquite Police Sgt. Robert Stepp, Thomas Garrad, Kristi Anderson, Lex and Linda Hall, Dave and Collette Price, New Hope Hospice, Harry Honigmann, Mesquite Newspapers and the City of Mesquite Leisure Services Staff.
Generous donors for the dinner included Eureka Casino & Hotel, Mesquite Lions Club, Kokopelli Landscaping, U.S. Food Services, Sysco Food Services, McDonalds, Meadow Gold Dairy Products and Silver Rider and other donors that wish to remain anonymous.
The City of Mesquite Leisure Services Department will definitely look forward to working with all businesses, organizations and volunteers in the future.
Once again, thank you all for your contributions and volunteer hours that helped make this event extremely successful.
