Town Wash completion celebrated by ribbon-cutting event on June 29

After 10 months of construction and two months ahead of schedule, the Town Wash Conveyance system and trail system will have a ribbon-cutting to celebrate its opening to the public at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, June 29.

A brief indoor ceremony at the Mesquite Senior Center, at 102 West Old Mill Road, will precede a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the pedestrian bridge over the Town Wash.

“We applaud the dedicated efforts of our partners Pride Contractors, Bulloch Brothers Engineering and the Clark County Regional Flood Control District in getting this important flood control and trail system project done under budget and ahead of schedule,” said Interim City Manager Kurt Sawyer.

According to Sawyer, the project was funded primarily by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District. The Town Wash project is a water conveyance system that includes cement culverts with safety fencing and a parallel bike and pedestrian trail system that runs under Interstate 15 on the north, under Old Mill Road, Mesquite Blvd. and Hafen Lane before emptying into the Virgin River. A sanitary sewer line was also installed under the trail system.
