The City of Mesquite Recreation & Parks Department is offering a Lifeguard Training class for those individuals interested in becoming a certified lifeguard. The class will run April 18th through April 22nd Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This class is American Red Cross approved the lifeguard training class which instructs and prepares participants on the knowledge and physical skills needed to respond to an emergency. Class is limited to 15 students.
To attend the class you must be 15 years old by the last day, you must be able to complete a 300 yards swim using the front stroke, breaststroke and retrieve a 10 pound brick from a depth of 10 feet of water. The swimming tests will be held the first day of class, please bring your swimming suits and a towel. The deadline for registration will be Sunday, April 10th, 2011. There is a cost to register for the class, please inquire with the Recreation and Parks Department front desk.
