Mayor Holecheck was born in Phoenix, Arizona. She has been resident of Texas, Illinois and California and relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1991. Since 1977 she has been employed by various law firms in capacities ranging from Paralegal, Word Processing Director and Systems Administrator to Legal Administrator. She has been a past member of the Clark County Organization of Legal Assistants, a member and past director of the Legal Assistants Division of the State Bar of Nevada. She was liaison member of the State Bar’s Consumer Protection Committee (governing the unauthorized practice of law). Mayor Holecheck was also a past member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations having achieved her Registered Paralegal credential in 1998.
In 2003 Mayor Holecheck moved to Mesquite, Nevada and in July 1, 2005 was elected to city council. In July 2007, Ms. Holecheck was elected Mayor has been active not only for her community, but is engaged as a Director on Boards such as Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, Nellis Air Force Base Military Civilian Council, Nevada League of Cities, past director for Nevada Development Authority and most recently she has been appointed by the Governor as a Commissioner for the State of Nevada’s Aging and Disability Services Division, Department of Health & Services.
Mayor Holecheck is a dedicated advocate for environmental concerns such as opposing the Toquop coal fired plant proposed 12 miles from her community, opposing Yucca Mountain and urging an NCA designation for the beautiful neighboring Gold Butte. She chaired an Energy Task Force within her community producing a renewables website for education on efficiency and conservation of energy. Mayor Holecheck was recently nominated to the Environmental Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the James O. Kennon Spirit of Community 2010 Award for her environmental efforts.
